What is the process for the individual assessment of educational qualifications?
Individuals who apply to the College have different education and experience backgrounds. The process for the individual assessment of educational qualifications is one way certain applicants can demonstrate that they meet the education requirement for registration with the College.
The process is designed for individuals who do not have the following backgrounds.
- Graduation from a diploma program in early childhood education offered by an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT),or
- Graduation from a diploma or degree program, in or related to early childhood education, that is approved by the College as meeting the education requirement, or
- Current licensure or registration in early childhood education with another province or territory in Canada that is recognized by the College for the purpose of labour mobility agreements (i.e., the Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT))
If none of the above applies to you, then you may apply to the College to have your education and work experience assessed for meeting the education requirement for registration.
Important:
- The assessment process only determines if you meet the College’s education requirement (and all other requirements for registration). If you do not meet the education requirement, the process will not identify courses that you should take.

Assessment Criteria
To determine whether an applicant meets the educational requirements for registration, the College will use criteria based on the Early Childhood Education Program Standard approved in 2018 by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
